This new book has designs inspired by the lace archives at the Erewash Museum, Ilkeston, Derbyshire and started out as a project for an exhibition between 5 artists in 2021. After initially producing 11 designs in 10 weeks for the project which were then exhibited, the author then developed further designs - in Bucks Point and Bedfordshire laces in a more traditional style - from the archives of the machine industry. All the exhibition designs as well as the traditional pieces are featured, along with a design inspired by the museum which has allowed readers to use for their own designs. Approximately 30 designs (Bucks Point and Bedfordshire) range from the relatively easy through to advanced pieces and also includes some background, researched by Julie Varo, of Frank Woodward, one of the manufacturers whose designs inspired the new patterns.
